7 yr old dd 'choking' on food almost every meal time

I say 'choking' in inverted commas, because sometimes she isn't really - I think its particles of food sticking in her throat and making her panicky/uncomfortable.

It started about a week ago, and has got worse fast. I'm pretty sure some of it is psychological, a sort of minor obsession/fear. When she was 2 she had her tonsils and adenoids out, and a floppy larynx fixed surgically...before that, she was going off solids and demanding milk and bananas only, and she seems to be going the same way now.

Obviously can't blame tonsils, but would adenoids growing back make eating harder??

I'm trying to let her have the foods she feels 'safe' with (she is genuinely scared) without making a big fuss or pandering too much, but it's a tricky tightrope to walk.

Any ideas or suggestions?

with her history (floppy larynx) I would want her seen and checked out

probably nothing physical but just in case

Thanks, yes, I agree. At least worth a gp visit.

My feeling is there is a physical component - though it may be nothing more than an increased awareness of the feeling of 'bits' in her throat...plus an element of anxiety. She's at that suddenly more aware stage generally.

Eek.
