One hot cheek and ear in 7 yr old?

Hi. My 7 yr old ds wasn't feeling very well yesterday and by evening he had a bit of a temperature. He felt much better today but came downstairs after being in bed for a while as he couldn't sleep and one cheek and ear is red hot but the other is normal. I thought he had just been lying on it but it doesn't seem to have gone away. Any ideas?

Ear infection or abscess? I would dose with paracetamol and if still like that tomorrow, dr. Unless it's so bad he can't sleep, then out of hours dr might be able to check it and prescribe antibiotics that bit earlier? Although here you can't get the prescription until pharmacies are open, but at least you will have been seen. Good luck x
