Started on Fri/Sat last week but majority of spots only came on Sunday. Now all bar one spot are crusted over and a lot less angry looking. But he has one on the sole on his foot that is a blister, with no scab but not inflamed looking.

I am sick of being housebound.

i would say he's not and chicken pox is infectious for 10 days before spots come out so one spot can't do that much harm x

Well, CP can be extremely serious if a pregnant woman who's not immune to it or a newborn baby is exposed to the virus. Any unburst spot will release live virus when it does burst.

So, I'd say it depends where you want to take him and to do what... so no soft play (or other shoes off activities), c/o risk of spot bursting and CP virus leaking through socks, getting onto play equipment and so other kids and possibly to their pregnant mums/newborn siblings. On the other hand, any activity where he keeps his shoes on should be fine!

the hpa says 5 days from spots first appearing and does not mention the scabbiness of them:

princesspiss, chicken pox is only contagious for 1-2 days before the spots appear although the incubation period is 10-21 days
