Red shiny rash on folds of neck?

Hi,

My DD has a shiny pinkish/red rash in the folds of her neck (see photos in link).

Is this due to a fungus? How to get rid of it?

Thanks in advance!

Mine have all had similar. The GP prescribed cream for it and it was gone within a week. I can't remember what it was called but it had to be prescribed.

Try and keep the area clean and dry and get a GP appointment.

It's probably due to wetness. I'd keep it very dry with a clean muslin after feeds and get to the GP. It could be fungal but it might not be. My DS2 had something similar in his arm pits in the summer. It went with Daktarin which is for fungal and some bacterial infections. I got in on prescription from the doctor. It did clear in a couple of days.

Hi, is your dd a newborn, or quite little? It is hard to tell from the photos. I ask because my dd had a similar rash when she was very tiny under her arms - sudocrem cleared it up. It is hard to get into all the folds to wash them when they are very small!

MissBeehiving · 29/12/2013 20:36

Both my boys had a similar thing - I thought it was caused by either moisture or milk getting caught in the folds. My first port of call was Sudocream. I'd pop a bit on and see if there's any improvement in the morning - if not get in touch with Drs tomorrow.

Sudocrem or metanium. Dd got this all the time. Wait till you find neck cheese! It's just milk dribble and moisture collecting.

Sudocream. My GP prescribed it when my dd had it.

@neontetra: She is 3 months.
