6yo has different ability with movement / motor skills on left and right sides - is this a problem?

Can anyone help with this please? I've noticed that ds(6) moves his right arm and foot differently to the left when running. Much more awkward, the right foot really turns out and his arm is stiff whereas the left arm he bends and pumps in unison with his leg movement.

He is right handed and really struggles with his handwriting. He's in yr2 and it is making it hard for him to get the work done that's being asked of him. I know that poor writing can be fairly normal for boys this age, but given the issue with running I wonder if there is something I can do to help, or if there is some sort of movement / gym / physiotherapy that would benefit him. I'm not really sure how to start looking though without being able to define the problem more specifically, or to know if it even is a problem.

Help? Please!

If he has a weakness on one side of his body then I would say he could definitely benefit from some physiotherapy. I'm not in the UK so not sure how the system works there, but perhaps start with a gp for a referral.

Ask gp to refer to physio and occupational therapist for assessment.
Ask physio or ot to runa standardised assessment like abc movement battery so you can score and see where any issues lie. Then you can work on them and also involve school Senco
