DS aged 2 has a high temperature (103F/39.5C), very red in the face and complaining of hurting round his jaw (can't work out if it's throat, neck or ears as he can't seem to be able to tell me). He's very lethargic but not sleeping, and I gave kids' ibuprofen at 11.30 and temp is the same.
Should I let him try to sleep and see how he is in the morning or should I call the doctor??

I'd call a doctor your obviously worried or you wouldn't be posting on here

Hope he's better soon

I would call Dr for advice

I'd call the doctor if his temp won't go down with meds. Do you have any Calpol? When my DSs get hot like that, I've been advised to give them both Calpol and Nurofen to get the temperature down.

It sounds like an ear infection to me, especially if his jaw hurts. The sooner you see a doc, the quicker you'll have a prescription for antibiotics; may as well do that now rather than tomorrow if he is going to need it anyway.

I'd call 111/OOH if in any doubt

Yep i thought ear infection too. No Calpol, only ibuprofen, but temp is now dropping and he's dozing a bit. I'm going to check again in an hour and ring then if he's back up again.
I'm also about to pop with number 2 and bet you it'll happen tonight...
