My 2 1/2 year old had a bad chest infection and was started on amoxicillin last Friday. Tuesday morning she came up with urticaria rash all over her and blisters which were weeping. Doctors appointment confirmed allergy and it was promptly stopped and she was started on cetirizine 2.5ml/mg twice a day. Doctor checked last night that she was better and she was much improved. Midday today a huge new blister came up on her arm and I had given her more cetirizine and called doctor. Eventually he called back and said to take her up to be seen as sounds like she need steroids. I took her up and although more blisters were appearing he said he wasn't sure to give her steroids. I told him I upped the dose of cetirizine and he said that was fine. Why did he not tell me to do this in the first place and call back if there was no improvement. I have been really stressed and started crying as it feels like one thing after an other has been happening lately. Worried he thinks I am just one of those mums who over react and needs to sort emotions out. He is probably right but I don't like it! Does anyone else feel they over react?! I don't think I did in this case.

Has the GP actually said you are overreacting?

Hope she feels better soon.
