As above really, he's had a bad cough & cold combo for about a week but since Fri eve has been running a temp of 39+ and today after nap was 40.4c using in ear thermometer. It's not really responding to calpol but does go down a bit with ibruprofen.

He was crying in pain last night with sore throat and tummy from all the coughing.

He's always been wheezy when has a cold and breathing is quite shallow but he's eating a little, drinking.

Not sure what a dr can do really, just scared of chest infections.

WWYD please?

Poor thing Sad I'd take him to OOH. Hope he feels better soon.

Absolutely get him seen now

peachesandpickles · 03/11/2013 18:21

Have him seen. 40.3 is very high and it sounds like it is not being controlled by medication.

In my experience temp and sore tummy can mean tonsillitis - not sure why but dd always complains of sore tummy rather than throat with tonsils.

Hope he feels better soon.

I would take him to docs now. A temp which responds to calpol is fine to stay at home but doesn't sound like you're able to manage that atm. He needs a medical eye on him and his chest I think.

Sore tummy is often due to swollen glands, ds has had it with pneumonia and numerous ear and chest infections.

Thanks everyone for replying. Apparently he has a chest infection and is much better now the antibiotics have kicked inSmile
