6yr old ds has pain on left side just above groin

Really stumped. My ds(6) has suddenly started complaining of pain on his left hand side just above his groin.

I was thinking hernia, but there's no swelling or anything. Then I looked up appendicitis but it seems to be on the wrong side.

Any ideas? He doesn't have a temperature but seems in quite a lot of discomfort. Could it be simple indigestion? What may ease that?

I suppose he is too young for kidney stones. Maybe phone NHS Direct? Does he wee okay?

Constipated?

harryhausen · 28/10/2013 20:08

He says he's not been for a poo today so it's a possible for constipated. He's never been constipated though so it would be a new one.

It came on really suddenly though. He's been fine all day. I'll try and get him to bed and hope it may ease overnight.

Testicular torsion can cause sudden onset groin pain. I think you should seek medical help.

Thanks Jollyb. That's something I hadn't considered.

He's just thrown up twice and is now asleep with a hot water bottle. He said his groin/tummy felt a little better after being sick. So now I'm thinking perhaps just a tummy bug? However, I'll be on my guard if he wakes up in more pain.

Thanks everyoneSmile
