How can I get rid of a cough in 4 days??

Help me Mumsnetters.

I have 2 children aged 6 and 4 both with a phlegmy cough. It needs to be gone in 4 days.

Are there any medicines or top tips please.

If they already have a well established cough, it will probably be gone (or much better), in 4 days whatever you do... .

Zinc supplements either in chewy berry things (seven seas?), or Zinc lozenges have been shown to shorten the duration of a cold by a day or two.
