Which cream to use when your baby suffers from sunburn?

We made a mistake when bringing our 3-month-old baby for a day out when it was sunny yesterday. Tonight he is losing sleep and crying and we suspect he got the sunburn.

Is there any cream for babies that we can buy from Boots or pharmacies?

My sincere thanks,

I think, if your 3 month old baby has sunburn, you should seek medical advice. Call out of hours.

Yes. I agree with Jinty

Ok is he visibly burnt - his skin is reddened? That's sunburn. Or from what you say it sounds like he's just got too hot and is miserable? Either way you need medical advice. Apologies if you did this but babies and young children need to wear hats on sunny days to protect them from the effects of the sun. It's not optional. They always need a hat.

They need a hat or they need to be in a pram with a sunshade TOTALLY covering them.

Please get face to face medical help rather than posting on the Internet

Try this kamillosan

I wouldn't put anything on the skin, treat it like a burn with cool bath. Ring the doctor, seriously. Next time keep baby covered, in the shade and out of the sun with a parasol on the buggy.

Sudocrem. Pharmacist advised this is the best cream for sunburn rather than any other prescription moisturisers such as Diprobase. My fair hair and pale skinned daughter got sunburnt abroad (almost blistering) on her shoulders despite factor 50 suncream and this worked fantastically. It's antiseptic aswell as moisturising and cleared it up in a matter of days. Recommend to everyone now!

Thanks a lot for all your kind replies. We were very worried last night and my first thought was to go to Mumsnet.

Today we have made an appointment with the doctor.

Regards,
