Small lump under 4YO DS armpit, swollen gland?

DS 4 has had swollen tonsils for a week or so, he is fine in his self running round playing as normal, he hasnt had a temperature at all. Ive just bathed him and ive felt a small marble sized lump under his arm on just one side. The glands on his neck are also a little swollen. I will take him to see the GP in morning of course, but im a little worried, if its a swollen gland wouldnt the one under his other arm also be swollen?. Its a definite lump that you can get a hold off.

It's a gland. I get just the one gland come up when I have some sort of nasty going round my body. However, it's best to get it checked out if you're worried.

Thank you :) i will get him checked out in the morning.

Just don't keep poking at it like I do with mine.. he's likely to get annoyed with you ;) Hope the doctor can put your mind at rest.

It is a lymph node (or gland) which enlarge in response to infection. Sometimes they can stay swollen for months ! What to do about it in an otherwise healthy child is a real conundrum for HCP s. Mostly they are fine. Personally I do a blood test after 6 weeks and futher investigations after 3 months.
