Has anyone tried ground linseed to help with their child's impacted bowel?

DD is very prone to constipation. We are currently trying to establish a "pooing routine" with her in an attempt to train her to go in the morning before she starts school in in September as I am concerned that she will soil herself there and get embarrassed. i have recently introduced linseed into her diet to see if it will help. Has anyone tried it? We already make sure she has plenty of water, fruit and veg etc.

We are on the lactulose here as DD aged 6 is chronically constipated only has BM about twice a week. It is also causing wee accidents as well.

Our Dr has recommended lactulose until achieving one BM per day then will gradually reduce which should 'retrain' the bowel to be more active.

Hi Fanjola, DD didn't get on well with lactulose and she has had movicol in the past too. I am just trying different methods to help DD along to see if they work. Lots of water has helped so far. Is your dd's school aware and helpful? Im not sure what to expect when DD starts in September.

yes, whole seen form, a teaspoon sprinkled on cereal in the morning.
small amounts of added fibre will ease the problem, increase in small amount if required.

avoid squash, artifical sweetners and anything with caffine such as chocolate, as they encourage a lazy bowel.

How interesting, eragon. Could you give us more information about that? Especially the squash.
