Any ideas with strange list of symptoms in ds?

Any ideas anyone? Does this warrant a dr appointment tomorrow do you think?
Ds is 8. Earlier he complained very suddenly of a headache above his eyes. He had a drink of water and some Nurofen and I sent him to lie down with his curtains closed. He said he also felt dizzy and his eyes were a little blurry. I did wonder at this time whether it was a first migraine as I suffer from them myself.
Now however he says the headache has gone but his mouth and chest hurt when he breathes in and he feels as though he hasn't got any air. He is not obviously struggling to breathe, no chest tugging or anything, he's not asthmatic and there is no audible wheeze or grunt of any sort. He is not upset like he was with the headache and is happily watching tv. He said it feels a bit like when he had pneumonia which he had just after Christmas. He has no other symptoms though and is not 'ill' in the normal sense.
I don't really know what to think. He is normally fit and healthy although since he had pneumonia he has on occasions said he has no air.
Do you think it could be related to the pneumonia or just a coincidence. Any ideas anyone? Should I leave it until the morning and see how he feels?

Sorry I missed out that he is also feeling sick and doesn't want to eat - that is extremely unusual!

I would phone OOH and ask them what to do. I would be concerned of chest tightness personally.

I think you can have pneumonia without the classic symptoms. Ds was very very ill when he had it but I don't think that's always the case.

Even without the history is be calling ooh, no use messing around with headaches and chest tightness IMO.

Also wondering if it could be pleurisy?

Does it hurt when he takes a deep breath?

Have a look at this link

Thanks your replies, I appreciate it. He seems up and down to be honest. His headache has gone completely but the chest thing is bothering me a bit. He has eaten a little but still feels sick. He just keeps saying it hurts. It doesn't seem as though he is having trouble actually breathing, it just hurts when he does. He said his tummy and chest feel bubbly but I can't feel or hear anything. I asked him to take a deep breath and he said it hurt and it felt like he hadn't got any air to breathe out. In himself he is ok but I think he has a temperature although I've lost my thermometer! He feels hot but has asked for a jumper on.

Given that he has had pneumonia in the past, I would call OOH. From memory, pneumonia can also cause sickness, bubbly feeling is odd, lack of appetite, fever, pain when breathing, that is quite a lot .... I would seem medical advice rather than wait and see TBH.

I've just called 111 and have been advised to take him to our nearest A&E. Just waiting on dh to get home as I am here on my own with ds and dd and she is in bed asleep.

Hope he's ok

AbbyLou · 23/08/2013 21:39

He's ok thanks. We were at A&E for bloody hours last night. There was a 3 hour wait and that was only children! After a lot of deliberation and examination they decided it was just a virus and he had the chest pain from inflammation in his chest muscles caused by the virus. He has been very tired today as we didn't get home until after 1am but he has picked up a lot. His chest still hurts but his temp is lower and he is a lot more perky.
Thanks so much to all those who took the time to post.
