anorexia is one of the classical signs of appendicitis in children. if she has gone off food that would be worrisome.

hope she feels better soon and its nothing major

Sounds like it to me.... Take some bits to GP may need to go straight to hospital...

Any update? I'm guessing that because there hasn't been one after 7pm that the doctor wanted to see her. If it is appendicitis then sending you hugs. Smile

Hi guys we are just back from the hospital!! The oohs dr wasn't sure so admitted her, dd was fine on the ward typically - playing and complaining she felt hungry!

Waited ages to see a dr who checked her over and decided its unlikely, although not impossible, to be her appendix. More likely to be swollen glands in her abdo (I have forgotton the name of the poster who suggested that but thankyou for the heads up as i had never heard of that before!!)

So we have been allowed home, dd now in bed asleep, have got open access to the ward should she get worse or the pain becomes severe again. Fingers crossed it is just a virus and she is now on the mend.

Thanks again to everyone who posted Smile

Great :) hopefully it will indeed turn out to be nothing.

hopefully it is mesenteric adenitis rather than appendix, but if it is then you can expect repeat performances for a few years :(. Calpol and sympathy is all you can treat it with. Also my DS had problems sitting cross legged on the floor, so when he had an attack we let the school know and the let him sit on a chair, and also let him off sport if he didn't feel up to it (he is very sporty so it was a sure sign of genuine pain if he didn't want to join in).

Hope she feels better soon.

Oh dear I'm hoping this is just a one off throcken Sad she seems fine this morning, running around the garden rescuing butterflies from our naughty cat!!

I think its things like this that give you so many grey hairs as a parent!!
