18MO rubbed shit into her eyes, what might happen now?

Let my 18MO go to sleep in just her nappy. She must have done a poo in the early hours and managed to take her nappy part off. Her hands, bum and torso were covered in shit and she had clearly rubbed her eyes as she had a batman mask of shit!

Have given her a thorough bath (some of the poo had dried fast on in this heat) and she seems fine, her eyes aren't red, don't think she ate any of it, but might she get an eye infection from this?

Lesson learned- despite the heat - never just a nappy!

DS2 did this last week.
He's been fine (tho we caught it before it dried).
I mentioned to DH that if we saw the start of an eye infection we should clean with saline - 250ml of hot boiled water, 1 teaspoon salt (proper 5ml teaspoon, not the one you use to make your tea), and allow to cool before wiping eyes.

DS2 now wears a nappy and popper vest!
