Does sun cream go out of date?

DS has woken up this morning with a bright red face and neck. He took last year's sun cream to nursery with him yesterday - could it be an allergic reaction (though he didn't react to it last year) or could it be out of date and he's got burnt (in which case I feel awful)?

Have a look on the side of the tube there should be a little icon that looks like a little tub with an open lid with 12m or 18m or somethng like that above. That is how many months that you can use the product after you have opened it.

I think unless it says like bruffin pointed out it's two years max.

I was going to say you should replace it every year, but without realy knowing. In teh absence of a little pot, I'd buy some more.
Hope his face calms down soon
