We've just potty trained ds2 2yrs 7myths. He's done really well but has been a little reluctant with pooing. Holding it until he can't any more. He's gone from daily to every other day so isn't too bad and its still soft and he doesn't have to strain.

He's just been now and there was fresh blood on the top and around his anus. Any suggestions as to what could have caused it???

I don't know what caused it but you really should see a doctor. A nurse friend of mine always says that you should always err on the side of caution and see a doctor in this case as it could be something internal.
