Enterovirus twice in 3 weeks? Nursery at fault?

Hi, just wondering if anyone has experience of this. My 3yr old came down really poorly and doc said it was a nasty enterovirus. Cough, runny poo, fever. I kept him off a full week. He's been in great shape the past fortnight but today is back where he was. Really teary, not eating/drinking, just wants to sleep.

One of the kids in nursery was sick last week in the class. I asked the staff there about it and they said it seemed to be a 24 hr thing ie loads of kids were sick one day and back the next. I was a bit Hmm because I know the advice is keep them off until 48 hrs after last symptoms.

Do you think my LO's got this thing because there's just a cycle of it at nursery or is it just bad luck? My eldest has never been as low as my LO so twice in less than a month seems really bad.

Occupational hazard of nurseries I think :(

If a child vomits at nursery they should be excluded the next day tho, surely? Is the nursery not following its own policy there?

IME - limited admittedly - second and subsequent kids seem to catch bugs more often than first borns.

Thanks narmada. I'm taking him back to doc tomorrow and I'll chat about the nursery. Our LA sent out letters before xmas setting out what we should be doing when the LO's have d or v so there's no excuse.

I think my youngest probably has had more coughs and colds but this bug has wiped him out entirely. The prospect of another week at home is a bit...ugh...for both of us. No idea how I'd be dealing with this if I worked.
