Is there a link between tongue tie and ear infections?

Just that really. My son is 13 months old. He was diagnosed with a tongue tie minutes after he was born and the midwife told me that they could snip it if it affected his feeding. Well, he breastfed without any issues, so much so that he didn't even lose any weight in the first week or so. Consequently, we left his tongue tie well alone. However, since December he has had four ear infections and last week the dr diagnosed glue ear with the possibility of grommits in his near future. I have recently seen a post on Facebook suggesting that tongue tie and ear infections are related. Really? I would appreciate some opinions as my dr said this isn't true. Thank you.

Hi. My son is 6 and has a tongue tie that was diagnosed when he was born but as it didn't cause issues we left it. I think he has complained of a sore ear once or twice but I couldn't really say he has been bothered by ear infections.

Not in my sons experience no. He's never had an ear infection and has quite a noticeable TT.

I've not heard this. My younger son has TT and I researched it a lot when he was a baby when trying to decide whether or not to get him snipped.

Dd had a tongue tie which caused snake tongue so if was snipped at 2 weeks old. She's had one ear infection at 2.5,

Ds (6) had no tongue tie and has had endless ear infections.
