Do I need to take dd to the walk in tonight?

She hurt her arm at school falling

Hurt straight away but not massively but as the day has gone on its hurt more and is a bit swollen -its her forearm, hurts to twist and if I press on it but wrist is fine

Not sure whether to see how she is in the morning and possibly miss school (sats year) or take her tonight?

I don't twist her arm (that sounded terrible) its when I asked her to turn her palm over it hurt

Undecided. Our walk in wont x ray at night (they would refer back in the morning or to A&E depending on their initial assessmemt). But they could at least give you peace of mind tonight and then you would no if you need to do anything tomorrow.

If there is any discolouration in the hand or it takes time to come back pink after pressing (the hand) then def see tonight

I wouldn't worry about missing school.

If you take her tonight she will be up half the night and be in no fit state for school tomorrow anyway. If they don't x-ray at night you'll then have to drag he back in the morning, possibly bad tempered and uncooperative.

If it were me I'd give her some painkillers and take her in the morning unless it became very swollen, she couldn't move her hand or it went very cold, etc.

Mmm, I would be tempted to get her seen. DS2 had a fractured wrist. I humoured him for four days until I took him. It's a really hard call though.

Can she turn her wrist over? Get her to hold her arm it straight with her palm facing down then try to turn her wrist so her palm is facing up, if she can't do this then there's a fair chance she's green stick fractured her arm,

Hmm, assuming she's not complaining I would be inclined to manage symptoms tonight so cold compress if the swellings bothering her +/- calpol and accept she's going to miss morning school while you take her to a&e in the morning.

If she were bothered I would take get tonight.

She's complaining lots and we are sat in the walk in -sigh!

I broke my wrist doing leap frog when I was about 10. It hurt quite a lot, but nothing like you'd expect a break to hurt like. (I've not broken anything else, so can't compare). I was just told to get up by the PE teacher and carried on the rest of the school day.

It was only when it swelled later on that my mum took me to A&E, where (after a four hour wait) it was x-rayed and had a plaster cast put on it.

DS2 fractured and dislocated his shoulder 2 weeks ago. He was taken to the Urgent Care Centre that evening, who put his shoulder back in place but we still spent over 4 hours the next day at the fracture clinic!

not broken but xray will be reviewed again tomorrow -pressume that's normal, not that they think they have missed anything lol

Yes. They often get someone else to take a second look in case person no. 1 has missed something.

we were s ent away and told that my son hadn't broken anything
then got a call a couple of days later asking us to go back as the x ray had been reviewed and he had in fact broken his foot

dr was very surprised that it had been missed too as was very obvious
