poos in the night, my lg is very sore down there :'(

hey my daughter was 1 not long ago. she only used to poo during the night very rarely was always in the day. but the past 5 days she has been pooing very early hours of the morning i think but not waking up from it until around 5-6am by which time it is usually dried on :( the thing is where she is in the nappy for so long and i don't know she has become very sore on her noon and bum :( she cries really badly when we do her nappy now as it must be so sore. i'm using sudacrem but is there a better cream i can use? i feel like crying everytime i see it it's so red and this morning when i dabbed it blood came away :'( please help should i just take her to the doc?? please no judging i hate seeing her this way and will do anything to make her better xx

I got some good cream from the chemist when DS had a really sore bum, I got it free on minor ailments scheme, what about putting cream in when she goes to bed as a barrier? Hope you find something to make it better

thanks i will take a walk down to the chemist in a bit as there is one down the rd. i put cream on every time i change her nappy and before she goes to bed but doesn't seem to help :( wish there was a way i could stop her pooing in the night but obviously i know there isn't. it's just ofd how she has suddenly switched! she sometimes poos during day as well... xx

Loads of Vaseline and nappy cream at night and plenty of nappy off time during the day! Keep her as clean and dry and possible and if its still very sore after a day or so go to the drs incase she has a fungal infection!

One of the reasons they poo in the night is because they're more relaxed... it may be she finds herself a little constipated in the day? Perhaps up her fluid intake, and fruit and veg, might help encourage her to stick to daytime pooing.
I agree with cream as a barrier to help.

when i let her take her nappy off in day should i put stuff on the floor incase? i have laminate flooring but a rug.. should i just take the rug away? i wont stop using cream im putting it on every time i do her nappy and when she goes to bed xx

also she has 2 bottles of whole milk a day and fruit pots.. should i try more fresh fruit? she's not a great chewer... xx

Have you tried metatanium? its a yellow tube, I've found it sorts out sore bottom very quickly.

Bepanthen cream should help.

It's up to you about the rug. Just let her do her thing and have a few towels ready for accidents! Fresh air will do her good.

Fresh fruit is better- fruits with higher water content too, so melon, mango, pineapple, grapes, apples, pears, peaches (tinned is fine, though the ones in juice not syrup), cucumber, tomatoes etc. Steer clear of bananas and dried fruit like raisins, as they will just bung her up. You just want to make it so that she doesn't have to push too hard (sorry, tmi!) and will do it in the day.

Don't go overboard on the fruit though, as I have found that the acids will hurt her skin when she's pooed if it's sore.

Hope she changes routine soon.

Bathe her bottom in water with a teaspoon or so of bicarbonate of soda, stop using baby wipes until it clears, you should see an improvement almost.immediately.

thanks to everyone for the advice. i bought bepanthen cream and it is amazing! shes clearing up so well :) i have also been giving her fresh fruit such as kiwis, plums, tomatoes etc and she loves it! :) past 2 nights she has pooed just before bed (bout 7) and not night time so i'm hoping that's it now :) thanks again everyone, much appreciated xx
