Worried about plastic bottles after sterilising a toy with them

I am probably being paranoid but I sterilised some plastic teething rings in my steriliser ( Tommee Tippee) along with my bottles. After the unit came out if the microwave, there was a strong burning plastic smell and the bottles smelt acrid too. I washed the sterilising unit with hot water and soap and the smell went but a few days on, I am noticing the burning smell again. Would you replace all of the bottles and buy a new sterilising unit?

What was overhating? If it was the steriliser I'd get onto the manifacturer.

I did this, and did buy new bottles and steriliser, but I hate that plastic smell, and could get a cheap replacement steriliser. I was much more careful about checking whether things could be sterilised then!

Nope, but I might not have bothered rinsing them off after either...

It was my own fault for sterilising the teething rings. I just assumed it would be fine to clean them too as they are plastic. The teething rings over heated and then made the bottles smell of burnt plastic:( I am just really worried I could make my baby ill by using the bottles and so I should probably replace do you think?

I'd use the bottles, but if you're going to worry, buy new ones.

I did similar once with a melamine sippy cup that wasn't meant to go in the microwave steriliser, gave everything a good wash and used it again and it was fine.
