Blood blister under toenail - does this need medical attention?

18mo DD pulled a pan lid out of the cupboard this morning and it fell on her big toe :( She now has what looks like a large blood blister forming under the nail. The toe is clearly sore but she is walking around and seems fairly unbothered. She doesn't mind me touching the toe.

Does this need medical attention? Not dealt with blood blisters before so have no idea if there is anything a GP would do or whether it will clear up on its own.

Thanks :)

Hello. My daughter dropped something on her foot at school last year and had blood under the nail on her big toe. I wasn't asked to collect her and didn't take her to the doctor as it wasn't broken and I didn't think there was anything they would be able to do. It turned black and eventually the nail came off about three months later and it's growing back.

It's all very slow and a bit unpleasant, but I think just one of those things. If it's not bothering her I'm not sure what help they could offer, but you could always go to put your mind at rest.

Thanks BoBoo, that's what I expected might happen. I'll watch and wait :)
