My son had an awful viral illness two weeks before Christmas. His temperature was uncontrollable. He wasn't eating and drinking very little.

Zoom forward to this week. I have discovered that my son is not eating at school an drinks very little. I prepare him sandwiches, but they return untouched.

He's unfocussed at school. Has very poor memory. Unable to get off to sleep.
Very tearful and complains of abdominal pain and nausea every morning.

I have contacted his school. His head of year has spoken with him. To ascertain if there are any worries. So far the only thing that is bothering him is that i have been made redundant. The Head of Year has asked a couple of Jacks school pals to keep an eye out for him and t encourage him to eat at school. The subject teachers have been asked to keep a weather eye out too.
Also Jack will be assigned an older student as a 'buddy'.

I have arranged to have a telephone appointment with my GP on Monday.

What else can I do? I don't want this to blow up into something more serious.

Is it post viral syndrome? Help!

Yes and no I'd say, my DS1 aged 10 was ill for 2 weeks before Xmas, zero appetite, looked grey and was knackered. He recovered over Xmas, still tired but that is the first week back at school i am sure. I bought some Animal Parade vitamins and some pro biotoc ones. He aslo just wanted really plain foor, backed pots & beans, tuna past, cheese on toast etc. Gotta go will post more later......

Just to check - have you included your son's name in your OP, or a mde-up name? Just checking in case you want todelete this and start again without his name mentioned.
