I'm concerned about my 4 yo ds and just want to get all this down so I know what to ask the doctor about in the morning. He's been out of sorts for what feels like forever, but is probably the best part of a month. He's had temperatures on and off, a few days here and there of a cough. But the last week and a half has been rough. It started with a high temperature and a few days of being listless and unwell in bed, with massively swollen neck glands. He's been off his food, complaining that even after a few bites his tummy is full and 'fat' despite the fact he's hardly eating half of what he normally would. I did wonder if he was constipated but about a week after the temperature started he started to look unwell again and had sudden diarrohea, and since then has had several big poos (sorry) but is still complaining his tummy hurts. And now for the last two days he's been saying his cheek hurts. I had thought he maybe had a tooth ache or an ear infection but he is very sure it's his cheek. He's been up crying with the pain of it for the last 2 nights and I just don't know what is wrong. Writing it all down has made me realise just what a terrible time of it he's had so I'm worried something may be really wrong. He was meant to start back at school today but had to stay home. Our appointment is first thing so I'm hoping he may be well enough to go back tomorrow, but I'm just useless when it comes to going to the doctor. I'm going to write all of this down so I don't forget anything (I also have a non sleeping baby so am sleep deprived on top of everything else...) but I'm not sure what's reasonable of me to expect them to do. I know that he's not himself. He appears to have lost weight and he was only a scrap of a thing anyway, but I was looking through our New Years pictures last night and he actually looks like a pale little skeleton :( His cheeks have hollowed in the last 2 weeks. A quick google of cheek pain has got me worried about mumps, he's not been vaccinated but ironically is booked in for it at the end of the month.
