DN looks terrible after being discharged from hospital with kidney problems

I visited my poor Niece (who is 7) at home yesterday. She was discharged from hospital the previous day having been there since boxing day for enlarged kidneys. My brother and SIL noticed that she looked very swollen, my dad who spent Christmas with them pointed out her swollen eyes. She was happy and active but swollen all over when she was admitted to hospital.

She was treated for enlarged kidneys with steroids and given medicine to counter act the bad effects of the steroids but she wouldn't take them at first so her stay in hospital was prolonged. Anyway, my brother and SIL were told that this problem could reoccur until she was 17 when she was fully developed. When I saw her yesterday she looked very ill still- worryingly so. she had dark eyes and was very, very thin, pale. She was so thin that you could see all of her bones prominently in her face. She was very somber as well. Does anyone know if this is a normal occurrance after what has happened? She just looked ill still and I'm so worried about her.

Just take her back to hospital if you have any concerns.
I hope she is ok and soon starts to feel better, I know it goes against the grain with many people but some times its better to pay the £150ish for a private second opinion to put your mind at rest.
If you live near Liverpool Alderhey is a specialist childrens hospital I would be tempted to turn up at one of these and see what they say

I know nothing about the condition but I wouldnt be too concerned. I think it's easy to forget that when someone is discharged from hopsital they aren't well, they are simply well enough to be discharged.

Whenever DS has been in it has taken days/weeks for him to be back to normal after discharge.

Hope she is better soon
