Blood blister on bottom, nappies smell of ammonia.

Ds2 is 14m, teething and wearing Bamboozles at night and this morning I noticed what looked like a blood blister on him bum cheek. His nappies stink off ammonia in the morning due to him teething. Has the ammonua burnt his bum? What can I do to prevent any future blisters?

TIA

I know it's seriously cold, but if you put up the heating could he have some nappy off time tomorrow. I used to do this with my son when he got bad nappy rash. I had a couple of oil cloths that I would let him play on- or somewhere you could let him play which has hard floors?

Ensure that you are putting lots of nappy cream too- I used metanium when his bum was sore in the past (not sure if it's suitable for blisters though).

Maybe change his nappy when you go up to bed so he isn't lying in a wet nappy for a full night?

Do you use fleece liners? Barrier cream well rubbed in and allowed to dry before night nappy might help. Could the ammonia smell be due to detergent build up? If so could try a strip wash. If it doesn't get better consider bacterial/fungal infection & see gp. Could try sterilising nappies on hot wash or microwave, info about this on nappy lady website iirc. Might be worth reposting on nappy board under products, lots of knowledgable ppl over there! Good luck

Ive started stripping them all yesterday. I'd changed the detergent to the Method one that MN wanted testers for so it might even be that. Thick fleece liner and 2 large bamboo boosters and thick microfibre inserts underneath. Arse the size of Canada! Yeah, if its not improved with the amount of arse cream mixed with vaseline I'll use disposables til its cleared. Never seen his arse with this on before. Thanks.

I had too & my nappies started reeking Angry had to strip them all and some are still smelly. Evil stuff for nappies.
Hope he's better soon
