My son developed large bumps on his head which then turned into spots and started oozing. He wouldn't let me touch his head and during bath times he would not allow me to wash his hair. During this time, the oozing substance turned into solid bits which are now sticking onto his scalp.

I am deeply regretting not encouraging him further to wash his hair, it sounds silly but I just didn't think that this would happen. I would be grateful for any ideas on how to remove these hard bits from his hair. They are too close to his scalp for me to snip away.

The bumps and spots are being treated with antibiotics and he has seen a dermatologist who has prescribed a special antiseptic shampoo.

I would be grateful for any ideas please

Thank you

is it jsut that the oozing stuff has hardened? i'm thinking if you soften it with olive oil and then wash very gently with shampoo.

i've re-read properly and yes i think if you soften with olive oil. let it soak in, massage it gently and it should loosen it up. it might take a few tries to get rid of it all but take breaks between times as although it is gentle it might be too uncomfortable for him to have his scalp being worked so much.

SIASFR, thanks for your quick reply, am feeling quite stressed. Yes, its the oozy stuff which has hardened. Have tried the special shampoo but that wont shift it. I'll try olive oil first and then shampoo. Many thanks
