Fed up of wearing DD's medicine

DD's (10 months) on antibiotics or supposed to be but she's getting less than half a dose eachtime as she's spitting and blowing rasberries. She's no better with calpol either. I'm using a syringe and have tried a spoon. Any other tips PLEASE?

Will she take a bottle? Try putting the teat into her mouth and squirting the meds into that.

Or you could try puting the medicine into the bottle with a little bit of milk. Give it to her when she is hungry, so she takes it all.

Does she use a dummy?

I use to tilt dd back, syringe in meds then plug dummy in.

thanks for your replies. some good suggestions. DD is bf and has never taken a bottle or a dummy. I could try it in her beaker but she's not really drinking or eating at the moment, just bf.

in that case could you put her on the breast after she has had her meds

We had same problem at that age. Head back, your arm over her arms, squeeze mouth to make O, squirt in to back at the side. Keep her head back until she swallows. Easier with two of you. Hard not to cry when she does. Lots of cuddles and reassurance. Soon she'll see it's non negotiable and co operate.

Or get grandma to do it. That worked for us.

She moved on to a spoon at about 15 months. Much easier.

anya we may have cracked it, sort of. if i bf her i can slide the syringe in the side of her mouth. it involves sticky boobs and wipes at the ready but at least more is going in than is coming out!

Ah was going to suggest that but was sure if it would affect the latch.

it does a bit but she just latches straight back on. thanks for all your help

That's for dd's daily antibiotic for a kidney thing. She's on an extra three a day for tonsillitis at moment and it's chocolate buttons every time to ensure cooperation.

i like that 1978. is it 1 for dd 1 for mummy? don't know how you do it long term. i'm just glad our bottles half empty. hope the tonsilitis clears up soon.
