my toddler bit his tongue badly...

on friday...he has cut a big chunk out of the side and it was/is flapping about. Thinking you cant do much about mouth injuries I am kind of waiting to hope it knits back together...it seems to be abit but not entirely and he is not bothered by it. Does anyone have experience on this? Does it heal itself? Should we go to GP? - Sorry, this seems so insignificant compared with many threads on here but also hoping someone might have a bit of wisdom for me!

Mine bit right through the middle of his tongue at nursery. it did heal but there is still a bump there. Stopped him using his dummy so was quite a fortunate accident in the end. Saliva is a really good healing agent so as long as it isn't leading or getting in the way of his 'bite' it should heal up nicely.

DD bit the end of her tongue badly it ended up split and forked at the tip. We had a dentist appointment so I asked her to look at it and she said it should heal up which it did. If I remember correctly it knitted together pretty quickly.

Oh thankyou Sherbet and Chrysanthemum - that helps alot...I think it is healing although may visit the dr towards the end of the week for reassurance. I am expecting a lump/bump of some kind to remain just need to have enough normality back to not inpede speech dev. Thanks again for your responses!
