How is low weight/centile dropping in a 5.5 year old child normally treated?

My 5.5 year old ds has always been small (both height and weight). However, I have recently become concerned as he seems to be dropping down the centiles weight-wise. He weighs approx 16.5kg and is 110cms tall.

He has a fairly low appetite, is very fussy when it comes to food and will never finish a meal.

I am going to make an appointment with my GP about this as he has now dropped to the 7th centile from the 25th.

Can I ask anyone who has experience of low weight children or children losing weight/fussy eaters, how this is generally treated by doctors/paediatricians?

Thank you!
