Hi. Before I get any comments from anyone, I've already taken my daughter to her GP - who did no tests but wants to monitor her growth etc and review her in a couple of months. I've also rang the allergy clinic as she has a history of multiple food allergies (she's mostly grown out of them now), and they arraged an appointment with the paediatrician for 3 weeks time. Problem is, I'm worried NOW and wondered if anyone might have any personal;l experience or advice....
My little girl is 2 years and 3 months old. As stated, she has a history of multiple food allergies and severe reflux, but she now only has a mild cows milk allergy. She's grown out of all the others, and she's recently come all thhe last of the medication for the reflux without any apparent problems.
Her symptoms are as follows:
- she isn't putting on any weight. She weigh's 0.2kg more than she did at her one year review 15 months ago. Sh's dropped from the 91st percentile for weight to the 9th percentile at last mkeasurement by her GP. Height is at the 75th percetile at last measurement.
- she gets really tired really easily
- she gets REALLY hungry at times, and eats 3-4 times her normal portions, and stil asks for more.
- When she's hungry she has mega tantrums - as in total emotional metdown. We have to feed her as soon as she wakes up in the morning (as in within a minute or two) to prevent this. This is just one example.
The rest of the time, she's lovely.-when she eats after complaining she's hungry, she does this strange, brief, involunatry shiver at the start of eating.
- she has a history of eczema, which has mostly cleared up now,. but her skin is very dry and itchy at times.
But, she drinks plenty, but not apparently excessively. It doesn't seem that way to me anyway.
Does this sound like diabetes to you? Should I be worried?
Thanks,
Ali
