i have read all the guidelines to what to expect but would like to hear from mums what really happens.

ds had his mmr jab on Friday. we postponed it due to other health and immunology issues and queries as to whether he should have live vacinations, immunologist has given him the ok to have it some time ago but we have been putting it off. on friday morning he had his first dose and has to go back in three months for a second.

has anyone else had their child vacinated at this age? what symptoms did they actually show? how bad were they?

think i just need a little reassurance that i havent done the wrong thing and hat ds will be ok

Hi,

Both my DC were vaccinated at around that age as they never had their pre-school boosters when young, due to ill health.

At 8 they had no symptoms at all. (But this was a booster. They had first jabs as babies and one of them had the equivalent of measles - 2 weeks of rash, temperatures and illness.)

Keep an eye out for the next two weeks and keep calpol ready in case he has a few off days. After two weeks, if he hasn't had a reaction, he's probably fine.
