My daughter is 9 and gets this. Its is worse during the colder months. Daytimes not too bad until about November-January period. Doctors trying but I had the same with my son and nothing working- pains just stopped when he was 12. Anyone experiencing the same and if so which medicines or treatments are you trying/have you tried? thanks.

Hi Just seen your message. My son, 11 has the same thing, whatever it is, not been diagnosed. He missed 20% of school last year and this year it will probably be the same. Each time he gets tummyache and is completely wiped out, no other symptoms. Takes 3/4 days to go. Since beg of March he has had at least 5 bouts. Blood tests, scans all ok. Finding it very difficult as nothing helps except giving him a heated wheat bag. Thinking of trying hypnotherapy. I was interested that you said your son had it and grew out of it. How is your daughter now?

Ds (6) has this, he had it a while ago for months and doc thought all ok and then in the last month it's started up again. I am almost certain it is stress related because he is a worrier. Will be giving it a week or so and going back to GP if no improvement. He isn't ill with it though so goes to school just had pain. Still eats fine for example,

I had this when I was at primary school. Looking back it was either because I hated school and thus stress induced or it was a form of growing pains, possibly both. I have IBS now, and in fact, I think my stomach upset on the first day of school was IBS related.

I get flare ups of IBS but now I am a SAHM, touch wood, it hasn't reared its ugly head so far. It was all work related in the past. Anxiety/ stress is a bugger and gets you where you are weakest!
