Gummy eye in 4.5 month old but not red - what is it?

Hi, my DS has one very gummy, watery eye that started weeping yesterday. My first thought was eye infection, perhaps picked up from the pool we went to the day before, but it isn't red or swollen, just watering like crazy and producing yellow shot.

Any ideas what it could be? Should I go to GP ?

Sounds like conjunctivitis.

Are you bf? If so squirt a bit in. Weird but really worked on both of my DDs with similar.

Thanks all, sadly no milk so can't do that. Think I will pay a visit to the chemist tomorrow and take it from there.

Update, it appears he has a cold - possibly eye was the first sign.

Sounds like conjunctivitis caused by adenovirus. Adenovirus will also give cold and flu like symptoms but it is generally mild and will go away in a few days and there is no specific medication for it anyway but it is highly contagious so other family members may begin to get it or the eye may even get worse over the coming days.

You can get Golden Eye from the pharmacist which is quite good
