Almost 5 year old says he couldn't feel he needed to wee

My DS is almost 5 and hasn't had any toilet accidents for a long, long time. He just did a wee on the floor and says he couldn't feel that he needed to go. He said he didn't know until it was happening. Is that anything to worry about, or is that likely to just be an accident/not paying attention or something like that?

He was born with hydronephrosis and had corrective surgery (reattaching ureter) when he was 13 months old - but was discharged when he was 3 with everything looking fine. I can't really see how it could be connected, but just mentioning it.

I would think too busy playing and forgot to go to the loo. Happens a lot to little ones when they are concentrating on something else. Don't worry!

He wasn't playing or doing anything that was really taking his attention. I'm only wondering as it's never happened since he was potty trained.

I would just wait and see if it happens again. My 5 year old used to often wet her pants and not even notice, but she was slow to potty train, and it was definitely something to do with if she was distracted. Yours obviously has a history- it could be nothing, but obviously worth keeping an eye on.

Funnily enough my five year old did this the other day, thought maybe uti starting but nothing since.

Thanks everyone. I was thinking I should only worry if it kept happening, but just wanted to check if it could be anything. I guess with his history, and a long time as a baby with urologists and the surgery, it's something I will immediately wonder about.

weirdly my 5.5yr old who has not had an accident for years did a number 2 on her first day back at school saying "she did not have time to ask to go before it happened" - and then she wet her bed the same night!! again not happened since she was three. I am waiting and seeing but not worrying about it for now - and you certainly shouldn't as it is just a one off for you! :)
