we go to France next week , right near the camargue, which is notorious for mosquitoes. We are all prone to being bitten, especially dd1 aged 6' and we also have dd2 aged 2. Has anyone used any good sprays/ creams/ candles or otherwise that have worked, or any general tips to stop us getting eaten alive?

In the Carmargue, you will get eaten alive, no matter what you use!

Lol - not in my experience! They are great big mosies, our caravan wall was covered in blood where we'd swatted them after they'd bitten us.

Best thing we ever used was Avon Skin so soft (woodland flavour I think) body oil or spray. Don't know what's in it but it definitely deters Scottish highland midges and they are little buggers. Every climber / walker / cyclist / camper I know uses it, even the butchest big hairy bloke, cause it works!!

He he he.....im another scottish person recommending Avon skin so soft. It's a dry oil spray. Our local camp shop stocks it as it's so good against the dreaded midge! Grin
