Hi,

My ds is 23mo. He is my first baby and I don't have any experience with other babies really so I don't know if this is normal or not.

ds has diarrhoea at least twice a week, sometimes more. Its not often watery, but is always liquidy and often has undigested food in it. When it isn't liquidy, its sometimes too hard. Its like he is always either constipated or has diarrhoea.

Is this normal? What should I do? He doesnt seem at all unwell, quite the opposite actually, he eats fairly well, is very active and happy and a good weight.

Any advice?

My DD2 is like this. She is 18mo.

I have a vague memory of something called Toddler Diarrhoea, whereby toddlers who are otherwise healthy just get random diarrhoea, often with undigested food in it. I've been putting DD2's vile nappies down to that.

I'll have a google and see if I can fine anything less vague for you!

here you go- I think I'm right!

Ooh you could be onto something here. It says that toddler diarrhoea can be down to not enough fat - check, I dont think ds gets enough fat. He used to love his cheese and yogurts etc but I've been struggling to get them down him lately. He also hates water so I put a splash of squash in, will stop doing that too, and give him more milk.

Thanks! Hope your DD2's runny bum becomes a thing of the past soon too!

I was going to suggest toddler diarrhoea but I see debka has beat me to it!
