Hello, my 16 week old has had his first cold, and it's mostly gone now apart from a phlegmy breathing sometimes which he can clear with a cough. I wasn't too worried as I figured he was just getting over his cold, but obviously now it's the weekend he seems a bit worse!

Last night I stayed up with him after his 4am feed for an hour to try and clear his airway because I didn't feel happy putting him down like that. It just sounds like when you have a chesty cough and you can really hear the fluid when you breathe. It's not all the time, but I'd have expected it to get better by now. I don't know if this is something worth going to an out of hours place or if I'd be overreacting!

He seems pretty much fine in himself, apart from today he's been a bit sleepier than normal. Anyone with advice please tell me what to do!

I would get him checked by a gp tbh. He is very tiny still. Just to see how his chest is doing. On a practical level, elevate at head of the cot. Get saline nose drops and a nasal sucker.
