Hi my DS was diagnosed with severe Vesicoureteral reflux, also known as bladder reflux, at 2 days old.
He is now 11m and had surgery 6 week ago to help improve his condition.

I was just wondering if anyone else has a child/children with this condition?

Hi,

My DD has this in her right kidney and was diagnosed at 12 weeks old. She has been on phropholactic (sp?) antibiotics since. She has developed e-coli when she had sickness bug and couldn't keep these down so they changed her anti b's. We have regular contact with the hospita but they seem to think she'll grow out of it.

Its grade four so I'm not sure but suppose I have to put my faith in them. We are currently awaiting the results of her ultrasound for the last bout of illness to see if it has had any scarring on her kidney.

Hope your DS is okay and recovering well.

Hope the results are what you are wanting, its such a waiting game!

We will find out the results next week from the ultrasound. They tried a procedure called 'deflux' to reduce the medication he has. Both kidneys have been affected and have a lot of scar tissue.

I have heard VUR is quite common, but I have never come across anyone with it!

Oh I'm totally the opposite. Everyone I seem to mention it to comes out with..... "oh my son, daughter, friend etc had that" including my weight watchers leader who asked after her doctor and said he was the best in the SE so that was good news. I think it is common but maybe not the severe stuff that we have been through.

The doctor has said he wants to wait until she is potty trained to take her off drugs but I am nervous as the first opportunity it had to come back when she was ill it did.

Please let me know about the ultrasound and I am keeping it all crossed for you!
