Anyone had a young DS with repeated urine infections?

DS1 (4.9) has his second urine infection in a few months. I think we will be referred for further investigation, as apparently it's relatively unusual in a boy his age. He's had a kidney/bladder ultrasound already which didn't flag up anything.

Anyone with experience of what sort of things might cause urine infections? He has coeliac disease, but there doesn't seem to be any link there. He also gets tonsillitis quite a lot, if that has any relevance.

Are they sure they are using the right antibotics? Could be the same infection that hasn't gone completly.

I always had urine infections and tonsillitis as a child and ended up on a longer course of antibotics as I did end up with scarring on my kidneys. At the time it was put down as just one of those things and the older I get the less I get infections

Thanks BlackOut. They confirmed they'd used the right antibiotic for the first urine infection (lab test). Not sure re: tonsillitis as they don't take swabs, but there are long gaps between infections - don't know how long a virus might lay low?
