2.4yo coughing pretty much constantly. Just a bad cough, right?

Poor DD has been up most of the night coughing. She felt very warm in the night but feels normal again now (gave Calpol at the time). DH is worried but I think it's just a bad cough. She's also out of sorts but I think that's probably lack of sleep. I'm just thinking a duvet day and warm juice with honey are in order; does that sound sensible? Or should I be taking it more seriously?

What you are doing sounds sensible to me. My ds was the same Thursday and Friday last week. I kept him at home rather than sending him to nursery. But on Friday night I could hear a crackle in his chest so took him to out of hours doctor because I was worried. If any breathing difficulties or you can hear it in her chest prob best to get her checked over by the doctor. I hope she feels better soon.

Thanks :) I'll keep an eye out for any other symptoms. Might go to the GP if she's not improving within a few days. Hope your DS is on the mend too.

It depends what you mean by constantly - ds gets a constant cough but I mean really constant and he needs steroids to stop it.

If she has a high fever I'd say chest infection. If she seems ok and the cough isn't actually constant then your plan sounds sensible.

You're right, constantly wasn't quite the right word, sorry. During the night she was coughing probably every 30-60 seconds or so, basically all night. She's had a lingering cough for a couple of weeks (left over from having a cold; I saw the GP after about a week of it, but she wasn't concerned), but as of last night the coughing was much more frequent than it had been.

Her temp last night was 37.6 according to the thermometer, so not very high, but seems better today anyway.
