Hi my 2 have been at there grandparents this afternoon and an hour ago we got a call to say there had been an accident and my dd5 had accidentally shut her brothers 22mths fingers in the door. When we arrived everyone was a bit upset especially our son!! - his fingernails are bruised and purple at the bottom and the tips are swollen and red. He can bend them. We have given him calpol and run them under the cold tap. Is there anything else we should be doing??

Good luck, similar happened to DS & he had bloody cuts (shredded skin) down every finger on that hand. DH decided not to see doctor & they healed fine.

This happened to my 16mo. I rushed her to A&E Blush where the nurse took off my plaster and put on an NHS one. Grin

She has a mark which is slowly growing its way out of her nail but her finger healed up fine.

Similar situation here OP except DD had 'degloved' her finger. A&E put the tip back over the bone and about 7 days later when the dressing was removed (and I was seated ready to faint)...it was amazingly healed!!!!!!

Thanks for all your comments, was not sure if he needs the pressure releasing from under the nail? Will prob get him checked out tomorrow - as he has a high pain threshold from sensory issues he has.
