My 21 month old DS has been getting greenish discharge from his eyes for nearly 10 days now. Over a week ago on a Sunday when it flared up I got some treatment out of hours for him, it was over the phone as we live in the middle of nowhere. anyway, he was given drops and they did nothing.

Took him to the Drs as it wasn't clearing and he says its allergy related, could be hayfever. he's been on antihisthamine now for 4 days and whilst he's much happier in himself, every morning and nap time his eyes are still crusting shut :(. I'm cleaning them gently, hard work with a toddler mind, but is there anything else I should be doing, shouldn't it be clearing by now? I saw the Docs on Monday just gone, shall I see them again tomorroe or should I give it more time.

Sorry for the ramble, just want to get him better, any help or guidance you can give would be very much appreciated.

Is he on antihistamine oral medicine or eye drops ?

Antihistamine eye drops may be better if GP thinks its allergy related.

I would go back to GP - anything to do with eyes that is not clearing is worth getting checked out again especially before the weekend .
