DS was sick at 7 and then said his head hurt, has been asleep and just woken up. Have been googling around as he often gets sick for a few days and am wondering about abdominal migraine. We haven't given him any calpol etc as assume it will come back up, he has just been having sips of water. Would you try him with a sugary drink incase its a migraine or is that likely to make him worse if its something else like a bug or virus? He has never in his life complained about a headache before but has only recently started to recognise feelings eg hunger but the migraine idea seems to fit with some of his symptoms

I would give some calpol, wait half an hour then give a drink - so he doesn't bring the calpol back up hopefully. Generally, I would avoid a very sugary drink, just plain water or very diluted squash if he hates water. No experience of abdominal migraines I'm afraid.

Tiny sips, wait a few mins, more tiny sips. He will still be absorbing some, even though it doesn't feel like it. Hope you get a bit of a rest overnight. My 3yo had a fever at bedtime so I may be on duty later too Sad

Yeah, his Dad gave him the drink and I think DS tried to drink too much as he says hes really thirsty, I have said sips every few minutes to him now as he is going to sleep in with him

flat lemonade works well - just add a little water and that'll knock the bubbles out and give sips from a straw.
