My DD collided with an other girl playing netball 3 weeks ago and ended up with a pretty spectacular black eye. She had no signs of concussion and, at the time, no blurred vision, no headaches. She has carried on as normal.

Last week she complained about not being able to read the board at school. Both me an DH have glasses, so i thought ' time for eye test' and have book one for next Friday. Then this morning, she said she could not read the notes when doing her piano practice and I asked her to close each eye and her left eye was fine, but her right eye (one that had a black eye) she says she cannot read the notes at all!!

Have rung GP and they want to see her urgently (appt at 11.30) as dr thinks it would be damage to the eye caused by the blow!!

Now feeling really crap that I did not get it checked out at the time Sad. What if she has some sort of permanent eye injury that could have been prevented if I had taken her to dr immediately?!!

Don't feel bad kids get black eyes all the time. I did a really stupid thing when an overhead cabinet fell on DDs head. She even said part of her vision was gone, but no bruise etc. I left it and it gradually got better over a week or so. Was talking to an ophthalmic nurse and he said probably a part of the retina became detached but LUCKILY reattached itself! Devastated as could have permanently damaged sight and should maybe have been lasered back on. And I'm a bloody nurse, still feel awful years later Sad

She has grazed her cornea.... There were loads of tests and she was very brave. She still has blurred vision though 5 weeks on from the injury....
