Clicky hip in 5 month old boy -anyone any experience with this?

Hi, Ive noticed a faint clicky noise coming from one of my ds's hips, I wasn't sure at first but today I'm pretty certain. He was checked at birth and at his 6 week check, and then nothing untoward was picked up.
He seems to be using both legs the same.
Can this develop after birth?
This is just something I've become aware of in the past week. Do I go to the GP, or ask the HV at baby weigh in day?
Thanks in advance.

I would go to the gp, which is probably what the hv would tell you to do too. Best get it checked out.

Dd1 had a clicky hip which cleared up by the time she was about 8 mths, I spoke to the HV who didn;t seem concerned. Dd2 had very clicky hips but also seemed to go into spasm & scream after they'd made a clunky/grinding sound. Because of this we got a referral & was checked out. Turned out to be nothing to worry about & typically shortly after we were seen it resolved itself.

I would get it checked out by the dr who may refer you on - it may be fine, but if it is a hip problem the sooner it is found the better. (DS had a problem from birth and went on to have a hip reduction at 1 but all fine now)
