Red patches/soreness around neck of DD6

Noticed when bathing DD6 tonight that she's come home from school/childminder after school with sore marks around her neck. She hasn't said anything but then she doesn't generally complain much. Just wondered if anybody might have clues as to what might have caused it?

Maybe a possible skin reaction to something she's either touched, been wiped with or eaten ??

has she ever had any similar sorts of skin flare ups else where ?/

if not, perhaps rough & tumble play with other DCs, perhaps being draged around & its friction from the neck of hr clothes - have you asked DD what it might be ??

No she hasn't had soreness anywhere else and this is the first time I've noticed these sort of marks on her neck. They seem to be better this morning. I asked her whether they'd done anything unusual during the day at school/with childminder but she said not, and as far as I'm aware she doesn't have any food intolerances. Maybe it is her clothes, not sure what I can do if it is?

Patchy sunburn, perhaps suncream not applied properly?

rockinhippy · 23/05/2012 10:28

It could be washing powder related, hot day, hot neck causing residue to bleed onto her skin & cause a contact reaction perhaps ?? - have you perhaps changed brands ?? - if so thats easily resolved.

Also a reaction to Suncream ?? - my own 9yr old DD can only use the baby Soltan one, all others will give her a rash - normal Soltan USED to be fine for her until last yearConfused

It's happened again this evening and this time she was complaining that it felt sore. It's not washing powder related, and she hasn't got sunburnt or suncream related, in fact the sore part wasn't exposed to the sun really. Has anybody else had this with their child?

have you asked her what she thinks it might be? or if anything has rubbed on her neck?

how big are the marks>

thisisyesterday · 23/05/2012 21:43

this morning had yesterdays marks disappeared?

gingerfrizz · 23/05/2012 21:50

This might sound daft but is it possible that her shirt collar might have rubbed? It's not been an issue before but maybe it's exacerbated when it's warm? It's not like it's a starched collar or anything though, but I can't think of anything else

Mmm, sounds more than possible - is it also possible that because its hot, its irritating her neck during the course of the day & she's pulling on it, so rubbing it on her neck even more so & causing what could be chafing Info Here

I've not had it happen with my own DDs neck, but thinking back, she has had it happen on her hips from jeans & yes, the jeans were fine until hot weather kicked in

As a solution, can you sew ? or get someone you know who can sew to sew a strip of satin bias binding over the offending neck seam - satin will be better as its nice & smooth, so will be more comfortable
