I'm considering giving him 1ml of piriteze - has anyone done this? He is pretty much completely covered.

I'm gutted as he is EBF as well! I cant believe it's so bad.

They say oatmeal baths are good.
he's old enough for Calpol, that should help.

You could use Virasoothe (over the counter in Boots and other chemists, I think Tesco as well) which is a cooling gel. You could also use Eurax lotion (pharmacy in Boots, no prescription necessary, very good for extreme itch), but only once a day for under threes and I would definitely give him piriton (anti-histamine, over the counter, Boots etc but even Tesco sells it). Check with your pharmacist but I think that you can probably use all three and this should hopefully together with oatmeal baths or bicarbonate of soda baths give maximum relief.

Sorry, I had misread, I thought he was 23 months, but he is 23 weeks. Not sure if you can use the above then. Best to ask your GP, sometimes GP prescribe medicine meant for over 1 year olds to very young babies so worth checking. I do hope you don't get it yourself though. If you do, you may want to ask your GP for anti-virals as it is much more serious when you are older.

Sorry to hear about your litte one. Dd had bad chickenpox when young and i put CALAMINE LOTION on her and it seemed to work. Gp told me to do it but i would check with chemist if you want to try it. But i think its quite harmless. Best wishes.
